"Look, I'm trying my best here and you're really not helping, okay? Either you help, or you keep your mouth shut." Jason just stared at the angry girl in front of him before walking away. He did not want to get into another fight and these days, all they did was get into one.
He could hear her climbing on the windowsill once more, leaving the building. The boy leaned against the wall, waiting. After all, that was the only thing he could do, hoping that she would come back home safely. He did not understand her, not even a little bit.
She was smart and amazing. He stared at the burnt up paper in the makeshift fireplace. Her university enrollment results. She had gotten into all of them. But in the end, it had meant nothing to her. Her mind was set on one thing: stealing back the family heirloom from the Vandesons.
"Jason! Jason, we have to go! Now!" He was snapped out of his thoughts and ran towards the windowsill. Sure enough, Lily was running back towards it, her arms wrapped around a watermelon statue. His eyes widened as he saw the person who was chasing her. Or rather, a group of people. "Thief! Somebody stop her!"
He grumbled under his breath. "I knew that watermelon will get us into trouble one day." He turned back to the windowsill and shouted, "Meet me in the garage!" With that, he made his way, grabbing the Chev keys on the table. Their job here was done, it was time to move on to another city.
