Song Review

Issue #7

Welcome back folks! This week I will be featuring "How You Like That," a popular song by the K-Pop group 'Blackpink', another suggestion by the cute and loveable little Yohime Nura. Remember, if you have a song you'd like me to listen to and feature here, just send it to me VIA Mail Post! So, let's dig in shall we?

The intro to the song makes it seem like it's going to start off wild, but then completely stops, and starts back up with a very calm and instrumental melody, with much of the focus of the song going to the girls singing. But then less than a minute in, the beat drops to a funky, catchy rhythm that is unexpected but fits perfectly with the song. As the song continues, the melody stays funky but intentional Ancient Egyptian vibes due to one of the instruments used, one I'm afraid I do not know the name of. The melody then switches back to calm and instrumental briefly before going back to full funky and catchy. After the second chorus, the song switches up a bit to end, which seems to me to be a signature style of Blackpink.

All in all, the song is one of the best K-Pop songs I've ever heard, which is no surprise considering how well it did when it first dropped, and considering the girl group that we're dealing with here. Blackpink has been one of few K-Pop groups I've shown interest in and this song reinforces why. What do you think of the song? Let me know below. And remember, if you have any songs you want me to feature on the next blog, send them to me VIA mailpost! Until next time folks!
