Welcome to the Grey Area! You're probably wondering: What is the Grey Area? What does that even have to do with World of Metahumans or the DC Universe? Well, we all have our own definition of right and wrong. But do we really? Everyone has differing opinions and sometimes, being a hero does not mean someone is good and being a villain does not guarantee that the person is evil. In this brand new column, I want to explore the different opinions. Every week, I will put the spotlight on a DC character. (DON'T FORGET TO HOVER OVER THE PICTURE to flip the card.) Let's get started, eh!
--POISON IVY--
Avatar
Poison Ivy, also known as Dr Pamela Isley, a promising botanist from Seattle, realised that she acquired an immunity towards natural toxins and immunity. Following her new-found "powers", she then started terrorising cities because of their terrible treatment towards nature. Because of this, she was considered one of the main villains in the DC Universe, though there were times that she put aside her differences to assist Batgirl in the Birds of Prey.

Would you consider her as a villain?

MY OPINION:
No, I wouldn't. In my opinion, I think she would more likely be an anti-hero. What is an anti-hero? It's basically someone who lack the traditional moral compass that heroes tend to have. But that does not necessarily make them evil or bad. And that is what I would label Poison Ivy. Her whole cause is to save Mother Nature, and she hated humans because of the way they treated the world's flora and fauna. However, she did go about it in an unconventional, extreme way. But I would not blame her for that because at the end of the day, would people have listened if she had put up a poster and go on a strike to tell people about the harm they are causing? No.

Though most would argue that sometimes her complete disregard for human lives would label her a villain. What do you think?
