DC Facts

Issue #3

Good day, Metas!

Hello again! This week we'll be delving into my "Top 5 Facts About Poison Ivy". Some of these, you may know. Some, you may not.

Now, without further ado, let’s get into it.

1. She Was Originally Going to Be Batman's Love Interest.

Yep, you read that right. Ivy was originally created to be a love interest for Bruce Wayne. She first showed up in Batman Issue #181. She had no origin when she first showed up, she was just a seductress. As the character grew in popularity, they created a backstory for her and she began to morph into the infamous villian that we all know and love.

2. She Can Create Plant Monsters.

Poison Ivy has a huge variety when it comes to her powers. Recently, she has been shown to have the ability to construct plant minions that will do her bidding. She can channel her consiousness into these monsters from a great distance and, as long as there are plants nearby, she can create them where ever.

3. She Was a Member of the Suicide Squad.

While, she didnt show up in "Suicide Squad" the movie, Ivy was once a part of the villian team. With the relationship between Harley and Ivy, it will be interesting to see if she makes an appearance in future "Suicide Squad" sequels.

4. She Was Once Clayface's Wife.

Ivy is known for her power as a temptress and master manipulator. She has never been afraid to use others to achieve her own goals, and Clayface happened to be unfortunate enough to be one of her victims. In Detective Comics #15, she made Clayface believe that they were married. Her life was threatened and she needed to use him as protection. She used a plant to drug him like a love potion, and while he’s in Arkham, she sent him love letters and eventually helped him escape.

5. She Was Modeled After A Pin-Up Model.

Ivy was originally modeled after a popular pin-up model from the 1950's, Bettie Page. At the time, Ivy was given short bangs like the model's and wore very skimpy clothing. Even now, she rarely covers herself head-to-toe.

Well, that’s all from me for now. I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I did doing the research for it.
