Metahuman Classes

Edition #7

Superhero History

Hello, Metahumans! Welcome to a new edition of 'Metahuman Classes'. In this blog, we talk about the different classes we have on our site. This week we'll talk about... Superhero History!

Why do we learn it?

When becoming a Superhero yourself, you will need to know how other Superheroes lived their life. What did they do good? And what did they do wrong? If you know this, you can use it to your advantage. With this, I mean that you won't repeat the mistakes they made, but that you will do things that are like the good things they did. Without learning the things in this subject you might not become as good of a Superhero as you could be. (As a Villain you could use this information too, obviously. You will know what they did to defeat their Villains, after all.)

What do we learn?

Do I even need to explain this? Superhero History is all about heroes and the things that come with being a hero. It's about the things they did, what kind of person they are, their sidekicks, their teams, and much more. Everything that is only a little bit related to superheroes and history, will be a part of this seven-year course.

Interviews

We can't talk about Botany without getting either Caelum Salerio or Zane Adrews here, am I right? This is why I have an interview with them for you!

Caelum Salerio, Master of Superhero History

Caelum has been the Master of this subject for not that long, but he is very excited and creative. He knows everything about every Superhero.

Interview:

Why did you want to become the Master of Superhero History and not the Master of another subject?
To be honest. I was playing with some ideas, that I call Storybuilding. It is kind of the way the lessons are formed and made slightly more creative because of it. Instead of answering questions only, I wanted to give some food for thought as well.
For example, just learning that someone is a hero, is one thing. However learning what a hero is, why one can be called a hero, and showing that even the smallest of decisions can make a person someone wonderful, that is something that probably shall help build, shape, and form the heroes of tomorrow.
So in every lesson, I wanted to write something that would help people feel like they are a part of a wonderful world, but also learn to think for themselves. By learning from the past, shaping the future.
I showed my Storybuilding and creative ideas to Ambroise and he was kind enough to help me figure out which kind of subject could fit with it. Allowing me to use some creative flow and hopefully interesting lessons.

If you would be the Master of another subject, what would it be?
Probably Hero Advisory since it would fit with my writing style and the personality that Caelum has. He is one that truly wants to help people evolve. Besides that, I would want to be able to be very creative in the lessons I write and love, absolutely love showing off my strange and hopefully wonderful ideas. It is rare for me to not write a lesson that has more than 400 words, in hopes that people feel the vibe I want to bring.
In Hero Advisory I would be able to do so as well, although I am very happy that I am Master of Superhero History. Especially since I have a lot of plans for it and feel totally comfortable turning that subject into my own kind of vibe. There will be a huge difference in how the old Master did it and I think there should be.
After all, if one has to rewrite everything, it should be something of their own. Hence if I would choose on another subject, it would have to be one that I feel would be one that I can shape into one of my own. I am a bit long-winded, but I think people shall get the gist of it.

What is your favorite thing about teaching?
My absolute favorite thing will be hopefully making the assignments wonderful enough that people will enjoy them as well as feel inspired by them. I also want it to help people feel pulled into the wonderful Meta Human world. Which is quite a task, but one I stand by.

Is there something you think students should know before taking Superhero History?
That I love creativity. That I always love seeing people take a creative turn on whatever I give them and I am always open to questions or thoughts or concerns about the subject. I think most importantly, I write long lessons, to give people something to work with. So while I try to not make it too hard, I want people to feel like they are reading a book about this universe, even if it is a small part. So if you do not like getting quite a bit of background information during many of the classes. You probably should skip what I have written and only see the requirements.
If you want to take a strange or creative take on it and need some help making it happen realistically, feel free to send me a Mail! I always love to help describe what is possible or not possible or even explain what Caelum would do if something like that happened.

Zane Adrews, Master's Aide of Superhero History

Where Caelum is quite new to the subject, Zane has been the Master's aide for Superhero History for a while now. He has become part of the subject, and the subject is part of him.

Interview:

Why did you choose to become the Master's Aide of Superhero History instead of another subject?
I chose to become the Master's Aide of Superhero History because I have a fond love of history in general. But, I have grown up loving Superheroes, and I already knew a fair bit of background about them, but I have always been wanting to learn and know more. So this was the perfect opportunity to achieve that goal.

What is your favorite thing about working with Master Salerio?
Salerio is a very bright and energetic person, which makes working with him enjoyable every day. There is never a dull moment with Salerio, and being able to work with him on a daily basis has been a real joy.

What is your favorite thing about being a Master's Aide?
There are a lot of things that I love about being a Master's Aide, and choosing one is a difficult decision. But I would have to say the joy of seeing new people send in homework. It fills you with such joy and excitement that nothing really compares. It just shows that people are still interested in history, and what we have to offer.

What is your best tip for students making Superhero History homework?
Just have fun. The thing that I see most with assignments that make them so outstanding, is that the writer enjoyed doing the assignment, and it is noticeable in the way they write, the actions of their characters, and how they portray seeing the Masters. So, just have fun!

Conclusion

In conclusion, Superhero is an incredibly fun, and important subject - no matter which path you might choose.

Are you curious about what subject we might discuss next time? Then stay on the lookout for any new blogs that will get published in the future.
