Metahuman Graduates

Edition #7

Art History and Culture

Welcome to a new edition of the blog series Metahuman Graduates, where we discuss the possibilities for you once you've graduated from Metropolis University. Today we continue this series with the subject of... Art History and Culture!

Within the course of Art History and Culture, you'll travel across time and visit all countries, just to look at how art changes. You will learn all about the different art forms. Learn to recognize them and maybe even create them yourself. You will see how different art was back in the day, and what it is like now - but as well as how much they are alike. Next to this, you might even visit art galleries and the workplace itself, to prepare you for what you might come across.

When finishing your four years of Art History and culture, there are two paths you might take. You could choose to become an artist yourself - in whatever art style you might prefer. Or you could own your very own art gallery. Either way, both of these jobs will provide you with a space to teach and show other people the world of art.

Interview with Rosalin Kim

Not only is Rosalin a Master at Metropolis University, but she teaches graduates as well. She owns a gallery herself and knows all of the ins and outs regarding her subject. If you ever want to discuss art, then Rosalin is the one to go to.

Why did you decide to become the Master of Art History and Culture?
At the time I took the class, I'd been taking an art history class myself IRL at my University. Being a double Art and English major, I find the subject really interesting and fascinating to explore. How people have expressed their creativity and emotions through art has evolved so much through time and so differently depending on geographical area, there's truly a lot to explore to the point I can't even cover it all. It's a fun subject and one I felt I could bring a lot of personal knowledge to, or do a lot of exciting research for.

What is your favourite thing about being a Graduate Master?
Definitely see how creative people get with the prompts given in homework assignments, especially if they're planning to incorporate the class into their IG job profession. Since characters by that point are really fleshed out, it's really fun and inspiring to see how people run with the questions I give them.

What makes Art History and Culture different from any other class?
We cover a lot of information from IRL history and the last year of class also delves into real methods of making a career as an artist, so I think it stands out in some ways with how applicable it can be to not just your character but to your real self if it's a subject that's always interested you.

What do you think people with the job of Artist and Art Gallery Owner can and should contribute to the Metahuman world?
Well, artists are always needed for the world to go 'round. Art is all around us, even in places some wouldn't expect. And without creatives, it'd be a pretty boring place to live in, wouldn't it? As an Artist, provide others with that fascinating look into the colourful, beautiful, and introspective. And as an Art Gallery Owner, you're equally as important in providing artists with a place to show off their work to a wide audience as well as educating those who wish to learn about the history behind art—just like I have for you!

In one sentence, why should people take Art History and Culture?
From learning about various cultures around the world and their art styles to creating your own mesmerizing pieces of art, expand your knowledge on the way people have expressed themselves in centuries past.

Is there anything people should know before taking your subject?
There will be a lot of note-taking and information dump. Prepare your hands in advance.

You've already reached the end of today's blog post. This one was all about Art History and culture - a graduate class for the people who tend to be more creative - but who knows what graduate class we might discuss next time? Stay on the lookout for the next edition!
