Who is DC's Eobard Thawne?
This is always a good question to start: who is Eobard Thawne? You might know him as The Reverse-Flash. You might think that it means an extremely slow person, as opposed to the Flash. Ooor, you might also think that it’s the Flash that moves backward. No to the both of them, no. He was able to learn about the Speed Force, and somehow, he managed to recreate it. So, technically, it made him the Flash as well. He wanted to be the fastest man alive, but unfortunately, the Flash beat him to it. He felt humiliated and due to pettiness, well, he became the archenemy of the Flash.Some of Eobard Thawne’s Occupations
Thawne was actually a professor. A physicist, to be specific. Well, I suppose it explains his ability in duplicating the Speed Force. Formerly, he was also the Director of S.T.A.R. Labs under disguise, Leader of Team Flash in secret, and even a Vigilante. The story of how the Flash beat him to being the fastest human alive really made him angry.

Eobard Thawne and The Negative Speed Force
How did Thawne become the archenemy of the Flash if, at first, he was the Flash? Indeed, he had the same power as the Flash. However, the issue came later, when he got angry after being humiliated by the Flash. His rage and negative emotions attracted the negative version of the Speed Force, unfortunately. Thawne and the Flash fought all the time, but they had the same power. None of them was able to beat the other simply because none were stronger or even faster. It is a battle with no outcome. Pointless.Eobard Thawne in The Timestream
Thawne apparently managed to find out who the Flash was: Barry Allen! After knowing this fact, the man traveled back in time in order to kill Barry Allen who was still a baby. OH NO! Fortunately, Barry Allen from the future came and saved his baby version. No doubt, Thawne was furious. He killed Nora Allen, and then framed Henry Allen for being the murderer! Eventually, he got too attached to the Negative Speed Force, which made him stuck in the past.

When Thawne got into S.T.A.R. Labs, he did not exactly become it himself. Instead, he killed the director, Dr. Harrison Wells, and pretended to be him. During his time in S.T.A.R. Labs, what he did was making sure that the particle accelerator was created so that Barry Allen could become the Flash. His only hope to go back to his own timeline was the existence of Barry Allen as the Flash. His plan worked. However, there were some things in the past that the Flash ended up changing as well…… causing the entire universe to fall into a huge mess.
