Sinestro: Green to Yellow, Good to Bad
Who is Sinestro?
We might just know him as Sinestro, but he actually has a full name: Thaal Sinestro. He came from Korugar and he’s famous for being the archnemesis of Green Lantern. To our surprise, he used to be a member of the Green Lantern Corps of DC. Unfortunately, he was corrupted by his power and his purpose changed: he wanted to control the universe. Such an interesting turn of event, for sure.
The Story of DCs Sinestro
Sinestro as Green Lantern
Sinestro was chosen to be a Green Lantern by the Guardian of The Universe who is known to have never made a mistake - Sinestro was their greatest. At first, however, he was fine. Sinestro was a great Green Lantern and he made sure to keep peace and serve justice in the DC Universe. During his time as Green Lantern, he also became a mentor to some of the new lanterns, including Hal Jordan. He was very respected by others, that’s for sure.
Sinestro as a Dictator
Dealing with a lot of things is a part of everyone’s lives, including Sinestro as a Green Lantern. He wanted to make sure that his sector remained perfect, but he had to deal with a lot at that time, mainly the death of his best friend, and also a prophecy about chaos and fall upon him. Sinestro got stressed and started to become questionable, causing the people not to believe in him again. Apparently he forced the Korugarans to worship him and he ruled them with unjust rules. Even his wife, Arin Sur, decided to give their daughter away to put her away from danger. He was imprisoned, but before that, he managed to forge a yellow power ring that he later used to fight the green power rings.
Sinestro and Parallax
Sinestro’s soul was transferred into the battery. There, he met Parallax, the yellow impurity inside the green power. With Parallax, Sinestro managed to defeat the entire Green Lantern Corps… except for DCs very own Hal Jordan who, in the end, defeated him and became Parallax. Sinestro wasn’t dead though, since later he still tortured the preceding members of the Green Lantern Corps. He had another fight against Hal Jordan, which finally got back to his body. During this fight, Sinestro’s ring was destroyed and he was teleported back to the antimatter universe. We do wonder whether Sinestro could pass away or not.
Powers and Abilities
Powers (from Equipment of the DC Universe)
Most of Sinestro’s powers came from his power ring. He had the yellow ring, also known as the Qwardian Power Ring, and he also had the Green Lantern Ring. He also wore White Lantern Ring. Aside from the rings, the coolest (also scariest) power that he had was Fear Attunement.
Qwardian Power Ring
Sinestro’s Qwardian Power Ring had several powers, namely: energy construct creation that could create force field, energy projection, and also flight. We believe this has similar powers to the Green Lantern Ring.
Sinestro’s Fear Attunement
Sinestro had this power called “Fear Attunement”, which means that he understands people’s fears really well, with or without his ring. Surely this could come in handy for him in several situations, but this is certainly not a power that one would want to fight against.
DC Worthy Abilities
Sinestro had indomitable will, leadership skills, advanced hand-to-hand combat skills, and also genius level intellect. Let’s also give it up for his will to live, because he was still alive after all of the drama in his life. He was also really good in combat, proven as he got chosen as a Green Lantern and he was still unbeatable even after that. Not including Jordan, of course.
