Ultraman: In Many Universes

The Many Faces of DCs Ultraman

When you dare to dive deep into the DC fandom, Ultraman might be a name that pops up every now and then – but who are they actually?

The thing about Ultraman is that there are many different versions of them, depending on the universe that you decide to take a look at. As we, obviously, can not come around every Ultraman, we will be focusing on the Earth Three universe and the Ultraman from here. The Ultraman within this DC universe is also known as Kal-II. They were the last son born to Krypton and was the leader of the Crime Syndicate.

The Start of Ultraman

When Ultraman landed on Earth he was filled with the ideology of becoming the strongest being of all and staying as far away from weakness. The rocket he came in crashed through the house of a couple, who he forced to be his parents until he turned 7, where he left them and burned their house to the ground, ensuring no traces of his life were left behind. After this, he took the name of Ultraman and began the pursuit that he had been working towards: to take over Earth. Starting this, he got rid of the President of the United States of America, and after that, he formed the Crime Syndicate, which he became the leader of.

A lot of DC's Crime Syndicates' actions seemed like they worked but Earth got hit by the same creature which had destroyed Krypton. The creature also wished to destroy Earth, and the group came to realize that there was nothing much they could do as the world began to crumble down. During this time, the fabric between the universes was weakened and it allowed the group to escape through a dimensional rift. This was a Limbo they ended up trapped in for five years.

Ultraman and Superwoman – an interesting couple

In the universe of Earth Three, we see an interesting couple in Ultraman and Superwoman, who are also part of the Crime Syndicate. Unknown to Ultraman, Superwoman would be having an affair with DCs Owlman. Originally, Ultraman was ready to give up with Superwoman and move to Lois Lane of an alternate universe. He is stopped from doing this by Black Adam, who he ends in a fight with, which he wins. After this, Ultraman learns that Superwoman is pregnant and that she has overheard Owlman’s plan regarding wishing to betray him. Superwoman told him to be strong for their unborn child – he told her that he would be strong for himself.

The Betrayal of Ultraman

Lots of happenings were to happen to the Crime Syndicate, including the end of Power Ring, whose ring sends vibrations through the multiverse drawing attention to the world where the Crime Syndicate now was staying. This would lure the thing they originally had run from towards them, which forced them to get ready for its arrival. In the meantime, the Injustice League attacked the Crime Syndicate, freeing their prisoners. The members who had survived the attack attempted to stop the now-free prisoners, and during this time, Superwoman chose to reveal that she had been working with the prisoner Alexander Luthor, who also was the father of her actual child. In the end, this betrayal ended with him being imprisoned - having to live with the fact that he was the weakest man on the planet.
