DC's Legends of Tomorrow: Where Heroes Come Together

What is DC's Legends of Tomorrow?

DC's Legends of Tomorrow is quite the popular TV series of our beloved DC Universe. The show combines time travel, superhero action, and even some humour. Originally, it came outin 2016 as a part of The CW's Arrowverse, to bring together characters from DC's Arrow and DC's The Flash, while also introducing new ones to form a perculiar team of heroes (and sometimes even villains) who do everything to protect their universe and the timeline.

The main story of DC's legends follows an unlikely team of heroes and anti-heroes. Their task became to safeguard history - and thus havign to track down several historical anomalies (things that weren't going the way it should be according to the time line) to stop them from alterning the past, present, and future.

DC'S LEGENDS
OF TOMORROW:
A CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

The show has severl character - as it doesn't follow one character, but instead a bunch of them forming one team. Nonetheless, the writers clearly thought about giving every character their own strengths, weaknesses, and traumatic backstory.

Main Characters

Let's look specifically into the members of our main team!

DC's Legends of Tomorrow's team leader: Sara Lance, aka White Canary

A former assassin from the original Arrow show, Sara becomes the team’s leader. She has quite a dark and complicated past, but is making up for it as time protector.

Ray Palmer, aka Atom

A genius billionaire with a suit that can shrink and fly. Sounds pretty cool, doesn't it? Ray's optimism and morality certainly contrast with the rather darker edges of the team.

Mick Rory, aka Heat Wave

A criminal-turned-hero? Don't we just love those! Mick is gruff but lovable. He might still have some of his criminal mindsets. But let's be honest, it is rather useful

Zari Tomaz

Why not bring someone from the future in? That is what DC's Legends of Tomorrow Team probably thought. Because Zari is a dystopian hacker wielding the Air Totem (better watch the show to figure out what that is).

John Constantine

The last member is someone interested in the darker magic. He gets described as a demonologist and occult master. Bringing a rather... dark atmosphere to the team with his dangerous magic.

Side Characters

Next to the main team, there are also some characters who regularely come in. They aren't exactly a main part, but they do appear in several episodes. These are names like Nate Heywood, Ava Sharpe, Amaya Jiwe, and Charlie. They kind of come and go and sometimes establish quite important relations with our main characters.

The Story and Lore of dc's legends of tomorrow

As said, the team works with time-travel. Meaning they also have their own time-travelling vessel (Waverider) with a very cool AI (Gideon). Rip Hunter assembled the team to defeat Vandal Savage (this crazy immortal person); but over time they kind of started to battle every bad thing that came into play. From villains and gods to demonic forces. The show delves into the effects of time manipulation, specifically, showcasing how small changes in history can lead to disastrous consequences. It plays with concepts like alternate realities and the butterfly effect, mixing historical events with comic book lore.

Tone and Humor of dc's legends of tomorrow

DC's Legends of Tomorrow sets itself apart from some other shows by embracing humour and absurdity. The team’s dysfunctional dynamics often end in comedic moments, and the show isn’t afraid to poke fun at itself for using time-travel clichés. It is very aware of itself, which is good in this case.

Villains and Threats

The Legends face a variety of enemies, from Vandal Savage (the main person everything started with) to the Legion of Doom (Malcolm Merlyn and Eobard Thawne) and demonic entities (like Mallus). Later seasons introduce even the Greek Fates and alien overlords, meaning that things are always crazy with high stakes.

Impact and Legacy

Even if it is part of the Arrowverse, DC's Legends of Tomorrow quickly found its own identity. With its blending humour, character development, and genre experimentation (such as noir mysteries and wild west shootouts) - fans have proven to love this. From being predictable and unserious, to being emotional. This show is a pure rollercoaster!

This TV-shows (Dc's Legends of Tomorrow) has always proven to be one of fan-favourites. But is it yours as well? Or is there another show you prefer? Let us know in the comments, and receive a small gift.
