Edition 7

Hey Metahumans! My name is Amethyst Jackson and in this bi-weekly blog, called Song of the Week, we will talk about music. Through this blog, I will take you on a journey to explore songs from every genre of music and see how they relate to the DC Universe. Let's get into it for today! This week's song is...

The Circle of Life

Carmen Twillie & Lebo M.

There is a swelling storm
From the day we arrive on the planet
And, blinking, step into the sun
There's more to see than can ever be seen
More to do than can ever be done
There's far too much to take in here
More to find than can ever be found
But the sun rolling high
Through the sapphire sky
Keeps great and small on the endless round

It's the circle of life
And it moves us all
Through despair and hope
Through faith and love

....

Trivia

This song is an incredibly popular song from the movie The Lion King.
It was composed by Elton John.
The song was released in 1994, yet, it is still a very much popular.
It is possibly one of the most popular Disney songs of all.

What is Pop?

While it is still not quite clear as to what genre this song would belong to; but the final decision I made was Pop. What does pop mean? It means popular. It is a style of music with several sub genres and most songs these days do belong to the genre. Elton John - the one composing this song - used the pop in a unique and interesting way. Usually pop music is bubbly and has uplifting beats; but Elton John chose to do something different with the style of music, still making it so popular.

Related to the Leagues

This song would probably best relate to the Elemental league. The movie the Lion King takes places on earth and the circle of life specifically relates back to the life on Earth - whcih the Elemental league is all about. And maybe this is a tad basic, but with the African setting, it might best fit with powers like psammokinesis.

Thank you so much everyone for reading this week's edition! If you have any song suggestions or just want to share your opinion - comments on this article or send them to me!
