The Bride: The Lady of Frankenstein


Who is The Bride?

Another day, another detective comics character to be discussed! Now, we have The Bride DC, also known as Lady Frankenstein or Bride of Frankenstein, is an agent of S.H.A.D.E. She works for S.H.A.D.E. and also the Creature Commandos. Even though she has the name as ‘The Bride’, in fact, she does not want to be the Bride of Frankenstein. But, she will always be affiliated with ‘Frankenstein’, since her name was taken from the one who made her named Victor Frankenstein.

The Bride’s Appearance

The Bride is a female zombie known with her black eyes, black hair, but has a green skin. We can easily recognize her by her skin and also her pistols which she will always carry everywhere she goes.

Powers, Abilities, and Weaknesses

Becoming a companion for Frankenstein, The Bride has a zombie physiology to be able to match her partner. As a zombie, she has really amazing powers and abilities, including superhuman strength, superhuman durability, and superhuman stamina. She also has the power to be immortal and self-sustenance, thanks to her physiology that helps her to stay as her current entity the entire time.

Looking at her appearance, she always carries pistols. With many hands she has, it helps her to carry more pistols and fight anyone from different angles. That is the reason why she has the ability to espionage and is well-known as an expert marksman. She also has the ability of basic hand-to-hand combat.

Besides that, she does not have that much power other than her gun skills, therefore the power limitation is considered as her weakness.


The History of Lady Frankenstein

Lady Frankenstein or The Bride has a long way to go! From saying that Frankenstein is not her type until they have a son, she already experienced so many things in her life!

How The Bride Became Who She Was

The Bride was created by Dr. Victor Frankenstein who actually made her to be a companion of the other creation of Dr. Frankenstein, which we all know the famous creature named Frankenstein. That is why her name is ‘The Bride’ or ‘Lady Frankenstein’, because she was supposed to be the bride for Frankenstein. Unfortunately, The Bride rejected him since Frankenstein is not her type. Hence she decided to wander the Earth at the time when the Frankenstein Monster’s assumed death in the Arctic.

On earth around the 20th or 21st Century, The Bride was being brainwashed by a supervillain called the Red Swami. The Red Swami also added two extra arms for The Bride and tried to make her as a reincarnation of an assassin named Kali. But, the agents from S.H.A.D.E. take the supervillain down even though they need as much as seven agents to face the Red Swami. Finally, she was defeated and The Bride joined the organization at the end.

The Bride’s Relationship with Frankenstein

The Bride was following Frankenstein to join S.H.A.D.E. as he showed up in the town of Salvation Valley accompanied by The Bride. After that, their relationship became stronger and stronger until they fell for each other and created a son using the S.H.A.D.E.’s technology. Unfortunately, it turns out that their son was very violent and unstable because he attacked the Bride and forced Frankenstein to kill him. The Bride made a conclusion that maybe their son was terrified and cannot forgive Frankenstein for what he has done to him.

After that, they lost track of their son but turns out, their son was alive and in S.H.A.D.E. custody without The Bride and Frankenstein knowing. They tracked their son to the place of his birth, Castle Frankenstein. However, their son just kept attacking his parents and begged them to kill him. At the end, The Bride with a heavy heart granted her son’s request. Then she decided to quit the S.H.A.D.E. organization.
