DC Mech: The Battle of Earth 28
DC Mech: An Interesting Series
DC Mech? Maybe something you have heard before, maybe not. Either way, this limited series of six editions was a rather succes. This series is set in Earth 28, specifically in the year of 1945. Earth and Apokolips are at war, but the age of the superheroes basically ended due to an invasion from Darkseid. Mech equipment has taken a rise and thus, superheroes take on these huge and impressive mech suits to help them out. It is Batman, The Flash, the Green Lanterns, Wonder Woman, and Kal-El who have to suit and join forces.
Trivia About DC Mech
The cover date on the first edition is September of 2022 and the sixth was released in February of 2023. This means that this series is rather new, and was released in just a short period of time. It is a series of graphic novels rated 12+, so mostly for a teen audience (but even people of ages older, including us, really enjoy it).
The Brains Behind DC Mech
On a graphic novel series like this, a lot of people have to work together. On this project, a total of 6 people have been credited. Starting with Marie Javins as the Executive Producer, and Kenny Porter as writer. Baldemar Rivas was a cover artist, penciler, and inker for the graphic novels, whereas Mike Spicer was credited as colorist. Lastly, there were Tom Napolitano and Dave Wielgosz as Letterer and Editor respectively. A lot of creative brains, for sure.
DC Mech: The First Edition
In total, six editions of DC Mech have been written. These were simply called
DC: Mech #1 to
DC: Mech #6. Let’s quickly talk about the very first edition written!
Details about the First Edition
To not spoil anything for you, we won’t actually talk about the story too much into detail. This First Editions has many cover variants, but they all clearly show that Batman is the point of interest for this graphic novel. This edition has a cover date of September 2022, but was published on the 26th of July, 2022. Just like the other editions, Mari Javins was the executive producer and Baldemar Rivas was credited as the cover artist. The rest of the credits go out to the same people for the whole series, as well.
Characters of Mech #1
As mentioned, this first edition of DC Mech focuses a lot on Batman in his Mech Suit. However, The Flash and Kal-El are mentioned as the main characters of this graphic novel, too. Then there are also many more supporting characters; including, but not limited to:
Alfred Pennyworth, the whole Justice Society of America, Jor-El, Orion, and Lex Luthor. There are two main antagonists in this story, however, and these are Darkseid and a group of Rogues.
Locations of Mech #1
Let’s just say that this series covers a lot of different locations. Most are located on Earth 28, however. As the series covers a fight between Apokolips and Earthand this is where the series starts, both are covered a lot throughout this series (specifically Metropolis, Gotham, and Star City). Doesn’t mean we don’t see other places, however, because Krypton, New Genesis, Rann, and Thanagar all make an appearance, too. (And guess what, these and the places mentioned on Earth you can visit on World of MetaHumans, too! Maybe one of them is even your home planet.)
Items of Mech #1
A lot of items make an important appearance throughout the first edition, as well. Obviously, the tech suits of the DC Characters are important. They all make their first appearance. That of Batman, the Flash, Heat Wave, Captain Boomerang, etc. Then there is also the usual known Batsuit, and many of the usual weapons we know our villains and heroes to wield.
How the DC Mech Series Continues
Okay, but that’s the first edition, what about the rest? While they slightly vary, the locations, items, and characters appearing in the rest of the series are fairly the same. This is the case as the six different editions form one story together. If you want to get a full grasp of what happens, it means you will need to read all six of these!
Not only does the art of the DC Mech series look super cool (let’s be honest, everyone wants these as posters in their room, right?) - but the story itself is super interesting as well. Have you read any of it?
