What is Detective Comics #826’s About?
We’re back with another edition of DC comic books! This time, we’ll discuss issue 826 that was published on December 6, 2006. Pretty recent, I might addList of Stories in Detective Comics #826
At this point, it seems like the comics have stopped releasing more than one story per edition. Detective Comics #826 only has one story titled Slayride. Who knew "slay" had been pretty popular with DC before people keep using it nowadays? Maybe DC secretly tells the future? Haha!Synopsis of Detective Comics #826
The story started with Robin, Tim Drake, escaping a gang of drug dealers. Out of the blue, a car passed by and the driver offered him a ride. He should have seen this a suspicious thing, but jumping at a random car was a better option than being chased by a bunch of drug dealers. Finally, Robin jumped in. Unfortunately for him, and he really should’ve been more suspicious about it, Joker WAS the driver! When Robin realized this, it was already too late for him. Joker used gas, and Robin went unconscious.When Robin finally woke up, Joker already tied him up with Christmas lights. The backseat of the car was supposed to be empty, but instead, Robin saw two dead bodies. Apparently, during their little journey, Joker ran over multiple pedestrians, including the two in the backseat with a total of nine body count. Jeez, Joker. As if it wasn’t enough, he also reported the crimes to the police, but of course not because he regretted it. There was, unfortunately, more. He was ordering milkshakes for himself and Robin, but the employee couldn’t understand his order. Probably annoyed or bored, that made Joker shoot the manager. Goodness.
Joker said that he would spare the people if Robin begged, but at this point, Robin was smarter to know that it wouldn’t be enough for Joker to stop committing crimes this way. Instead, Robin quoted the Marx brothers, showcasing humor, worldplay, and absurd logic. That made the Joker laugh and spare the people, somehow. They got into an argument about the Marx brothers, and eventually, Robin managed to free himself while the Joker was distracted.
Robin punched Joker and knocked him unconscious using the same gas that the Joker used on him. He pushed the villain out of the car, and Joker’s body got hit by a passing truck! However, when Batman and the police came to look for his body, it was nowhere to be seen…
Detective Comics #826 Characters
The main protagonist of the story is, of course, our third Robin: Tim Drake, and the main antagonist of the story is The Joker. We have several supporting characters like Batman a.k.a. Bruce Wayne who showed up with the police in the end, the fast food employee who didn’t understand Joker’s order, the pedestrians, and so on. The main setting is, you guessed it, a car! This car was driven through the streets of Gotham City, so one could say that too. It is kinda crazy to imagine that this wild story came from only one car ride.Detective Comics #826 Artists and Writers
