Song of the Week
Edition 19
Hey Metahumans! My name is Amethyst Jackson and in this bi-weekly blog, called Song of the Week, we will talk about music. Through this blog, I will take you on a journey to explore songs from every genre of music and see how they relate to the DC Universe. Let's get into it for today! This week's song is...
Van Halen
I get up, and nothin' gets me down
You got it tough
I've seen the toughest around
And I know, baby, just how you feel
You got to roll with the punches
And get to what's real
Ah, can't you see me standin' here?
I got my back against the record machine
I ain't the worst that you've seen
Ah, can't you see what I mean?
....
Trivia
This song was released 1983.
It was one of the most recognizable songs of the 80s.
It was originally rejected by the band before they released it.
Influence on the Decade
With its infectious energy and unforgettable synthesizer riff, “Jump” became a defining track for both the band and the era the song was released in. Known for Eddie Van Halen’s incredible guitar skills, the band took a different direction with “Jump” by using a synthesizer as the lead instrument. Which is definitely a big deal!
Related to the Leagues
Another one that might not be super easy to relate to the leagues - but I did it! Because what does jumping feel like? Flying! And who is one of the metahumans that can fly? Fairy hybrids. Who this song is perfect for!
Thank you so much everyone for reading this week's edition! If you have any song suggestions or just want to share your opinion - comments on this article or send them to me!
Many Meta Thanks,
Amethyst Jackson
