Detective Comics #1034: Father and Son in Their Own Chaos
What is Detective Comics #1034?
Another Detective Comics issue to be talked about! Have you missed reading the spoilers of the issue? This issue was released on March 24, 2021. Four years ago, which means, it has been a while! If you haven’t read the issue, then this blog article is perfect for you!
List of Stories in Detective Comics #1034
There are two stories in this issue! Boy, it had been a while since we last had an issue consisting of more than one story. These stories are:
- The Neighborhood (Part 1)
- Demon or Detective? (Part 2)
Synopsis of Detective Comics #1034
The Neighborhood started with Bruce Wayne not being rich anymore. He lived modestly in the city center. One day, there was a fundraising event held by Mayor Nakano. Bruce decided to come due to curiosity. However, as always, life would never be peaceful for Bruce because a group of villains broke into the event and started stealing phones. This group is called “Party Crashers”, and they wore helmets with painted sinister smiles. Upon this chaos, Bruce slipped in and changed into Batman, defeating them all.
Due to not having the Wayne Manor anymore, Bruce had to “work” elsewhere, no longer the Batcave. During this time, he worked in the sewers beneath Gotham. We could call it the temporary (and sad) Batcave. He also lived in an apartment building, and he got invited by his neighbor, Lydia, for a small get-together. In this get-together, he also met Deb Donovan, a reporter, and the people in this event helped him see how Gothamites - the ordinary people of Gotham - live their daily lives.

Of course, there was another attack by Party Crashers that Batman managed to handle. However, at the same time, there was apparently a violent attack in Bruce’s apartment building. A married couple was threatened, and the wife went missing. How did Bruce deal with all of that? The continuation is in the next issue!
Meanwhile, Demon or Detective? showed Damian reconnecting with his mother, Talia al Ghul. He learned about this group called League of Lazarus who held a deadly combat tournament, in which Damian participated. One of his opponents was Connor Hawke, who happened to be the son of Green Hawke. Why was Connor there? Damian intended to find out and help.
