Detective Comics #1100: The Heartwarming Stories

Written by: Rebecca Davenport

What is Detective Comics #1100?

Another Detective Comics issue to be talked about! So exciting! This time, we have some heartwarming stories that were a bit different from the normal issues. Anyway, this issue itself was published on August 20, 2025. Still quite new – around two months ago! Not many spoilers yet, but here’s what we can provide!

List of Stories in Detective Comics #1100

There are four stories in this issue! So many! It seems like they’re returning to more stories in one edition, eh? These stories are:
  • Lost & Found
  • Your Role in the Community
  • The Knife and Gun Club
  • The Fall

Synopsis of Detective Comics #1100

The first story, “Lost and Found”, is about a deaf boy who was looking for his missing dog. Apparently, the missing dog was somehow related to a crime, which later on made Batman get involved in the situation. The unique thing about this story is that this was made fully without dialogues and captions! Fully understanding a story only from the pictures has its own charm, no?

“Your Role in the Community” did, again, involve Batman. This time, Batman as Bruce Wayne attended a gala, but ended up having to deal with Joker, his nemesis. However, this story also challenged Bruce’s identity as both the rich Bruce Wayne and as the vigilante Batman. Apparently, the public only thought of him as the rich kid, not knowing that he was also the one who kept Gotham safe (mostly – too many crimes in this city).

The next story is “The Knife and Gun Club”. Again, the story is set in Gotham, in a hospital to be more specific. This story is kind of heartwarming, actually, because we get to see what the people think of Batman. So, the doctors and nurses at the hospital were chatting about how Batman and the villains in Gotham tend to bring injured people to the emergency room. One of the younger doctors admitted that he was worried about the civilians, seeing that a lot of them were hurt and it was possible for some of these people to get hurt even worse. Another doctor countered this young doctor, saying that before Batman existed, the injuries were even worse, so their situation at the moment was actually quite good. Batman apparently heard this conversation, and of course it made him feel happier about his situation.

The last story, “The Fall”, was definitely interesting. Again, we focus on Batman. This time, he was saving a villain who jumped off a skyscraper with no more wills to continue living. The main story was short, but the comic itself focused a lot on Batman and the villain’s thoughts, their stories, etc. It shows how similar the two of them were, while at the same time having different ways to express how they were as people.

Detective Comics #1100 Characters

The main character is obviously Batman a.k.a. Bruce Wayne, but we also have a lot of supporting yet important characters to the stories: the deaf boy, the Joker as always, the doctors and nurses, and the falling villain. Each character had their own shares of Batman's lives, which was really interesting to read. Aside from the aforementioned characters, we also have Ace the Bat-hound, Buster the dog (the missing one), Katie Wing, some journalists, Jackson Miller, and even Robin.

Detective Comics #1100 Locations

All the stories were located in Gotham City. “Lost and Found” focused on the city in general, but there was an Apartment 17 being mentioned. “Your Role in the Community” took place in Gotham River, East End, Gotham Community Center, and Robinson Park. “The Knife and Gun Club” of course took place in a hospital, Gotham General Hospital to be exact. Lastly, the skyscraper of “The Fall” isn’t known, but we know it’s in Gotham City.
