Tidal Tuesdays

Hi! Emma here with our first lovely edition of Tidal Tuesdays! As we should all know by now, Marine Bio is my special interest! So today I am going to be talking about whale sharks! These lovely creatures are one of my favourite sharks out there! They're also completly safe and non-threatening to humans!

These sweeties are the worlds biggest fish! Yes, they are fish, like all sharks are! They however, unlike other sharks, eat only shrimp, tuna eggs, krill, crabe larvae, and other small critters! They're filter feeders with a throat the size of a baseball!

Some more facts!

1.) They will migrate long distances for food!
2.) Whale sharks are the deeepesst diving fish.
3.) Researches believe whale sharks live for about 130 years.
4.) Only one pregnant whale shark has ever been confirmed!
5.) Their skin is extremely thick, about 30cm.
6.) Every whale shark has it's own skin pattern, called a constellation!
And that is it!
If you want more interesting information, or just want to see my sources, check the links below!

2.) World Wildlife: Whale Sharks
3.) Whale Shark: Worlds biggest Shark
And lastly, to support whale shark conservation, you can buy a tracking bracelet for a whale shark right down here! They are a little pricey, but very much worth it! Fahalo Bracelets!
