Power Ring Overview
First up on the list is the Green Lantern Ring, also known as the Power Ring. This lovely piece of jewlery gives the wearer immense power, all by using the willpower of the user. It is widely regarded as one of the most powerful objects in the universe.
Those who wear it, are called a Green Lantern, and are chosen by the Guardians of the Universe. It was created by said Guardians to harness the Magic of the Universe, and to control it. However, in modern day, there is a more universalized version of it, which is the Green Lantern Power Battery.
There are several known wielders, but the current rings are based off of the orignal weilder, named Kyle Rayner, back when he was the one and only Green Lantern. The exception to this design however, is that Alan Scott has a different type of ring.
Power Ring History
The Green Lanterns, as a whole, originate from Earth-One, where they were under a different name, and where the prototype of the Power Ring, was actually a Pistol, charaged by Lantern shapped batteries. However, this did change, and Rori Dag recieved the first Power Ring when it was made. This however, did not make her a Green Lantern.
After the Original Power Ring was made, there were several more that came after it, such as the Oan Power Ring, which harnessed science more than magic, and did not need to be recharged, making it arguably more powerful.
When the Green Lantern Corps was destroyed, Kyle Rayner was wearing an Honor Guard Ring, which has no visible difference in terms of power, and is simply different via design. It did however, have a different way of charging and using the power it harnessed, and when Kyle Rayner was the only surviving Green Lantern, was adapted into the normal Power Ring.
Other Information About The Power Ring
While the Green Power Ring's charging has changed over the many, many, years that it has existed, one of the things that has remained the same is the fact that when in the vicinity of the Blue Power Ring, it is charged instantly.
Along with this, when charging a Power Ring, an oath must be recited. This is the main thing that charges the ring, and is the reason why when charging, it is not intantanious. However, it is important to note that the oath is not universal, and is changed/created by each Green Lantern when charging their own Power Ring.
There are also known evil versions of the Power Ring, though these are only found in Alternate Dimensions, and have drastically changed the course of their own Dimension.
