Hi! Emma here with our weekly edition of Tidal Tuesdays! As we should all know by now, Marine Bio is my special interest! So today I am going to be talking about betta fish. I know it's a little off the book but I love bettas so much, they're absolutely stunning.Betta's, also known as Siamese fighting fish, are native to slow moving, shallow waters, rice paddies, and stagnate ponds of Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos.
Some more facts!
1.) They usually live between two and five years in captivity.
2.) There are over 70 different species of bettas.
3.) Betta fish are diurnal.
4.) Male bettas are devoted fathers.
5.) Betta fish are carnivores.
6.) Most bettas sold in the US come from Thai breeding farms. Some however are also just scooped up out of the wild. They're transported in the same small cups that you see in petstores.
