Metahuman Classes

Edition #17

Music

Hello, Metahumans! Welcome to a new, and the very last, edition of 'Metahuman Classes'. In this blog, we have talked about the many different classes we have on our site. This week we'll talk about... Music!

Why do we learn it?

At first glance, music might not seem like something a superhero or supervillain needs to learn about. Yet, it can actually be quite useful. Because without knowing it, music is a big part of our lives, and thus a big part of the lives of heroes and villains too. Plus, in the music class, you will focus on performing and dealing with your nerves. And well, that can be quite useful too whenever you're in the spotlight.

What do we learn?

In the music class, you won't just learn how to play an instrument. Obviously, this will be a part of it, but it's going to be much more. You will learn how to understand sound. You will be discovering your own style, but also gain the knowledge of how to become a real performer. There is a lot to music, and all of it will be thought to you in this course.

Interviews

We can't talk about Music without getting Sonnet Sterling here, am I right? This is why I have an interview with them for you!

Sonnet, Master of Music

If you've read all of these blogs, then you know that in a previous edition, Sonnet was already interviewed. Only back then they were only the Hero Advisory Master. Now, ever since a couple of weeks, they have started teaching Music as well, and it has been great!

Interview:

Why did you want to become the Master of Music?
Well, music has always been a passion of mine. It's something that I truly believe is important to learn, and it's something that I have a lot of knowledge of. I hope to pass on that passion and knowledge in my teaching.

You're teaching both Music & Hero Advisory, what would you say is the main difference between the two?
Hero Advisory is almost a mentorship in many ways. It's a very individual journey for every student. For the first few years of music, it's a little more academic as we lay down the important groundwork. Both are equally fun in my opinion, just a bit of a different experience.

What is your favorite thing about teaching Music?
I think it's helping people to understand it. Hopefully, by the end of each year, there are going to be some lightbulb moments going on where things you finally understand something you hadn't really thought about. There are a lot of layers to it.

Is there something you think students should know before taking Music?
I'm going to try and give you some real content in your lessons, and it might be helpful to some of you to look for video examples of what I'm saying sometimes (I might mention some chord progressions you would benefit from actually hearing rather than just seeing). Music is art for the ears.

Conclusion

In conclusion, even if not everyone has a feeling for rhythm, music will be a lot of fun. You know, maybe you'll actually gain some useful knowledge in this class.

I hope you all enjoyed this series because I most certainly do! And don't worry, because soon I'll be back with another series of blog posts and well... let's just say that we will keep talking about interesting things to learn.
