Teen Titans Go! is a lighter take on an animated take on the quintessential superhero team from DC Comics: Teen Titans. It premiered on Cartoon Network in the year 2013. The comic series mostly shifted focus from the epic battle, slanted more towards their humorously absurd day-to-day activities. Some episodes parody the superhero tropes, while others have a go at slice-of-life adventures, covering everything from household chores to bizarre competitions. In terms of its pace, gags, metaphor-heavy pop culture references, and caricatured traits of characters, it seems to speak to a younger audience as well as to adult long-term fans interested in the funny spin which the series lends to its heroes.

‣ TEEN TITANS GO! HISTORY

It's a spin-off and fresh comedic reboot of the highly acclaimed Teen titans series that aired from 2003-2006. It did not continue with the old storyline but made it unique from the original into a standalone, humor-packed universe. Robin plays the role of a very serious leader who often creates conflict because of the neat-freak mentality he has with his laid-back teammates. Irreverent tone and catchy tunes made it without doubt a winner. And now it is one of Cartoon Network's longest-running hits. Although somewhat critiqued by fans of the previous darker and action-driven installment, Teen Titans Go! is busy with its legacy that it even brought along a feature film, entitled Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (2018).

‣ TEEN TITANS GO! CHARACTERS

Every Titan is a comic exaggeration of its original character. Robin is hyper-competitive and obsessed with being a "real hero." The alien princess is Starfire; she is overly cheerful and naive, misinterpreting Earth's customs and therefore making a joke of her alienness. Raven, with her deadpan wit and sarcasm, manages to even the odds, though her dark magical powers cause even stranger circumstances. Beast Boy is always lazy and shape-shifting; when it comes to food, video games, and bizarre schemes, his best friend, Cyborg, frequently takes him to task. Together, these two completely divergent personalities drive the humor and chaos that define the show.

‣ TEEN TITANS GO! RELATIONSHIPS & DYNAMICS

Teen Titans Go! revolves mostly on very funny, sometimes dysfunctional dynamics among the team members. Robin always encounters a struggle to show authority, while the others test his patience and give way to fun instead of doing missions. Starfire's sweetness and positive view on almost everything annoy Raven sometimes, who tends toward cynicism; however, there are tender moments in which their sisterly bond stands out. Beast Boy and Cyborg's friendship is one of the deepest links within the show: it involves laughter and covered embarrassment with some heart sentiments. Robin is the victim in some love subplots, like his never-ending infatuation with Starfire, which are actually comedic but show how much the characters care for one another in the end. But in the end, when it matters, the Titans do always come together - friendships and teamwork should remind viewers that those are what their adventures are really about.
